TheSPIS is recruiting 12 Doctoral Candidates in the fields of Cultural Heritage, Classical Archaeology, Classics, Ancient History, Theatre Studies, Historical and Religious Studies.

PI, Prof. Elisa Chiara Portale (Unipa), in the project management of the TheSPIS project: HORIZON-MSCA-2024-DN-01-01, TheSPIS – Theaters, Sanctuaries, Performance: Interaction and Sustainability (Project ID 101223894).
We’re recruiting 12 Doctoral Candidates: 4 positions in Palermo; these must be covered by people from abroad (which means, not resident in Italy in the last 36 months before the TheSPIS call);
the same applies to the other positions: 3 in Greece, Patras (people not resident in Greece in the last 36 months),
3 in Germany, Mainz (people not resident in Germany in the last 36 months),
2 in France, Lorraine (people not resident in France in the last 36 months).
The positions are for people with an archaeological background; however, one project is more historical (Project 5), another more philological (Project 10).
Each candidate is allowed to apply for up to three research projects (12 projects in total). People holding a PhD, or who have defended their PhD, are not eligible. Deadline: May 11th 2026.
