The role

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work as part of The Baron Thyssen Centre for the Study of Ancient Material Religion, which is based in the Department of Classical Studies at The Open University. Over three years, the successful candidate will complete their own individual research project, publishing high-quality scholarly outputs. They will also work alongside the Director and Steering Committee to increase the public profile of the Centre, contributing as required to the organisation of events, and to our public engagement and outreach activities.

This post is funded by The Augustus Foundation.

Skills and experience

  *   A completed PhD in Classics, Ancient History, Archaeology, Religious Studies (with a focus on ancient cultures), or another related discipline;
  *   An awareness of current research in the field of material religion;
  *   Clear plans for an individual research project in an area of ancient material religion.
