Teaching Fellow in Latin Language and Literature (102922-0622)
Full Time / Fixed Term
£31,406 to £40,927 per annum
Fixed-term contract from 1 September 2022 until 31 December 2023, 1.0 FTE.
You will organise and teach the year-long advanced Latin module, Latin Literary Texts (post A level). You will convene and teach a 15-CAT module in Term 1 2022 on 'Fighting (for) Rome: Narratives of War in Roman Historiography' and convene and co-teach the first year module 'Encounters in Latin Texts' (taught in translation) in Term 2. Teaching in Term 1, 23-24 will be comparable, with the opportunity to devise your own research-led module, in consultation with the Head of Dept. You will supervise undergraduate dissertations, and MA T dissertations if appropriate. You will set and mark essays, practical criticisms and exam papers. You will need experience in language teaching, lecturing, leading seminars, marking and giving constructive feedback. Experience of supervising dissertations is desirable.
This is an opportunity to gain a wide range of teaching experience within a supportive department, with students from a variety of backgrounds, devising your own teaching materials within the scope of the current prescriptions for these modules. You will be involved in many aspects of departmental life, tracking students' progress, participating in staff meetings and Open Days.
