Postdoctoral position Papyrology
The University of Liège invites applications for a fully-funded four-year postdoctoral position in the field of papyrology. The position will be based within the project "PapyBE", funded by the Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S.-FNRS), and directed by Alain Delattre (ULB) and Gabriel Nocchi Macedo (ULiège).
The project aims at the conservation, study and digitisation of the papyri collections of Belgian universities, museums and libraries.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the inventory, description and edition of Greek (and eventually Coptic) papyri from various collections in Brussels, Ghent, Leuven, Louvain and Liège. He/she will be part of a team, and will be able to contribute to the project's conferences and publications.
Key requirements:
* a doctoral degree in Classics, History, Archaeolgy, Egyptology or other related fields
* documented experience in research in the field of papyrology
* excellent knowledge of Ancient Greek
* excellent knowledge of English
* reading competence in French
* willingness to acquire basic notions of Dutch
* excellent communication and collaborative skills
* ability to work to a deadline
The successful applicant must not have lived and work in Belgium over the past twelve months.
