A.G. Leventis Postdoctoral Fellowship in Ancient Greek Studies

The role
The A.G. Leventis Fellowship in Ancient Greek Studies, tenable for three years, is awarded for the pursuit of an advanced research project in ancient Greek studies leading to publication. The project may relate to any area of ancient Greek studies, including reception. The Fellowship is an early career development post that offers an extended period of time in which to develop an ambitious research project while gaining some experience in teaching and participating in outreach activities. The post-holder will be a member of the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Bristol and a committee member of the Insitute for Greece, Rome, and the Classical Tradition, and will also be affiliated with the Bristol Classics Hub.
What will you be doing?
Research
The post-holder will pursue, in a timely and professional manner, the research for which they have been appointed, leading to publication. They will be expected to give at least one research paper each year in the Department or another appropriate venue and will be a member of the research seminar of the Department of Classics and Ancient History.
Teaching
The post-holder will teach one undergraduate 20-credit unit in one semester per year (or equivalent) on an appropriate topic after due consultation with the Department, and may also contribute to other teaching and supervisory activities.
Outreach
The post-holder will work closely with the Bristol Classics Hub to organise and deliver a programme of outreach activities. It is expected that the post-holder will devote approximately 20% of their time to outreach.
You should apply if
The post-holder will have been awarded their PhD in the general area of ancient Greek studies no more than seven years before taking up the post and will have demonstrated outstanding ability in research and the potential to produce high-quality research publications. They will have an original research project in ancient Greek studies that will be pursued during the Fellowship. This post cannot be held in conjunction with other substantial awards or with a post at another University
