Assistant Professor of Instruction
The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida-Tampa campus seeks a 9-month VISITING Assistant Professor of Instruction, starting August 7, 2023. This is a visiting position with the possible extension for a second and/or third year.
DUTIES:
During the academic year 2023-2024, the successful applicant will teach the online course in Medical and Bio-scientific Terminology, as well as in-person courses in Classics such as Mythology, Ancient Greek Civilization, and Roman Literature, which are part of USF's General Education curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties by August 7, 2023. Applications from individuals who are ABD (all but dissertation) will be accepted, but the degree must be conferred by appointment start date. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of Classics or a closely related field.
* Specialization in Greek literature and history
* Experience in college classroom management
* Development and management of large online classes
* Familiarity with Canvas LMS or similar
