Two permanent positions as Professor are available at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas (IFIKK), University of Oslo.
One of the professorships pertains to climate/environment/sustainability<https://www.uio.no/english/about/strategy/climate-and-environment/index.html>, the other to democracy<https://www.uio.no/english/research/strategic-research-areas/democracy/about/index.html>. Qualified candidates must have research competence at the level of professor within one of these fields. They must also have teaching competence in one of the department's disciplines: philosophy, classics (Greek or Latin), history of art and visual studies, and history of ideas. Broad experience in acquisitioning external research funding and leadership of transdisciplinary projects is a prerequisite.
IFIKK already has considerable research competence within climate/environment/sustainability as well as democracy. Applicants must show how their profile will fit into the existing faculty, and also in what way they will provide additional qualities and competences to the department. Applicants must further show their potential for contributing to current strategic initiatives at UiO within, respectively, climate/environment/sustainability and democracy.
The successful candidates are expected to initiate and lead research, supervise PhD candidates, participate in teaching and in exam setting and assessment at all levels, and to carry out administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the department.
