Assistant professor - Ancient Greek and/or Roman religions
The Department of Classics at The Ohio State University seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor whose research focuses on ancient Greek and/or Roman religions with an emphasis on issues of race, ethnicity or gender, broadly construed, including the interaction of those religions with other ancient religions.
The successful candidate will be able to teach ancient Greek and/or Latin at all levels in addition to graduate seminars, Classics undergraduate courses, and general education offerings, as well as contribute to OSU's lively cross-departmental doctoral program in ancient Mediterranean religions, the Department's focus on race, ethnicity and gender, and Ohio State's Center for the Study of Religion.
The Department of Classics at Ohio State, which is part of the College of Arts and Sciences, has fourteen full-time faculty members covering a broad variety of fields and a vibrant graduate program. Additional colleagues working on the ancient Mediterranean are located in the departments of History, History of Art and Near Eastern studies.
