The Faculty of Theology, Institute for Biblical Studies and Church History, Department for New Testament, offers a temporary position for 3 years.
Research Assistant (doctoral position/ research assistantship) (m/f/d)
As a 65%-employment.
Remuneration will be up to the level of grade 13 TV-L, taking account of the tasks assigned and the appli-
cant’s personal qualifications required.
Tasks:
• Work on collations, transcriptions, and philological analysis of Old Latin and Vulgate manuscripts on the
basis of MSI- and 3-D images of the 4th cent. Codex Sangallensis 1395 Σ
• Analyse the manuscript with regard to palaeography and codicology of the Codex Sangallensis 1395 Σ
• Collaborate on the edition of the manuscript Codex (in print as well digitally in the New Testament Manu-
script Room NT.VMR)
• Conducting own research project for academic qualification (PhD)
Requirements:
• Master in Classics, Master of Divinity degree or equivalent
• Certified knowledge of Latin as well as Greek and willingness to learn Hebrew (multilingual Codex)
• Documented experience with ancient manuscripts
• An interest in expanding their expertise to include digital and computational approaches
• An excellent oral and written command of English, the main working language of the project
• Is willing and able to work both independently and as a part of a broader research team.
