Call for Contributions
BernBabylon is a laid-back space where researchers from diverse areas and disciplines can
mingle and share ideas. Whether you're a wordsmith, an archæology enthusiast, or an art
history buff working on Mesopotamia, Anatolia, the Levant, Egypt, the Arabian Peninsula,
Iran, Central Asia, or the Aegean – your presence is eagerly awaited! Join us for a vibrant
exchange of knowledge and experience. We encourage you to take advantage of this
opportunity to introduce new ideas and projects, regardless of their scale, and engage with
experts from diverse fields. In order to stimulate exchange of ideas and benefit from personal
interaction, BernBabylon is an on-site event.
Talk
We welcome original research papers, case studies, and practical insights. We seek academic
quality tailored for a non-specialist audience, presented in a concise and communicative
manner. Please ensure that all citations and images in your PowerPoint are accurately and
visibly referenced. It is crucial that the language used in your slides adheres to grammatical
correctness and precision, following scientific standards.
Duration: Maximum of 20 minutes.
Book Presentations
Showcase your recently published scientific monograph or fiction literature in a casual
ambience accompanied by a delicious cup of coffee.
Duration: Maximum of 10 minutes.
Workshop
Workshops should feature presentations, discussions, and hands-on activities, providing
participants with an immersive experience. We invite researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts
to submit programs for engaging and interactive workshops at BernBabylon. We welcome
original research papers, case studies, and practical insights related to the workshop theme.
Duration: 3 hours.
Date: Workshops will be scheduled on 24 and 25 October 2025
Important Dates
• Paper Submission Deadline: 22 April 2025
• Notification of Acceptance: 31 May 2025
• Event Date: 23–25 October 2025 in Bern
Submission Process
Authors may submit their proposals until 22 April 2025. Submissions by young academic
talents are especially encouraged. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process, and
accepted papers will be included in the event proceedings – Authors will be notified of
acceptance on 31 May 2025.
• Proposals should include name, affiliation of authors and co-authors, an abstracts, and
three keywords. Abstracts should not exceed:
◦ 200 words for Talks
◦ 100 words for Book Presentations
◦ 500 words for Workshops
• Proposals should be submitted as a single PDF document.
